Microsoft 365 Copilot agents are grounded only in your existing Microsoft 365 content, which makes them quick, safe and simple to adopt. Copilot Studio agents go further: they connect to external systems such as CRM, ticketing, finance platforms and APIs through connectors, enabling end-to-end workflows — but they need more design, configuration and governance.
The free agents run on Microsoft 365 Copilot licences within your existing tenant. Copilot Studio agents and premium connectors carry their own licensing and consumption costs. The three free agents can typically be running in your tenant within a few days, since they only use content you already hold in Microsoft 365. Copilot Studio agents that integrate with external systems usually take a few weeks depending on the number of connectors, approvals and testing cycles involved.
